May Summary

This month we returned to another busy month full with ongoing activities for all the classes.

To begin with the month, on May 2nd our High School sophmore set a coffee themed English project at school. They prepared beverages and snacks such as waffles, gummies and even Korean street food. The orders were taken in English and the whole team had to communicate only using that language. Great opportunity to practice their skills! Shout out to Teacher Paty (our English Department Coordinator) for always looking for ways to make English a funnier and useful tool for our students.

In Mexico we celebrate Mother’s Day on May 10th, school provided flowers for our female teachers who have been blessed with children of their own, our Pastor prached about the importance of Mother’s during our Wednesday Service. This week, Middle School organized an event to celebrate their mothers, there were performances, games, dances and a very touching moment at the end where students got to embrace their mother, covering them with a towel for a long time. It was a time of joy, tears and gratefulness. In addition to these celebrations, a special service was prepared on Sunday 14th given that we had Open House for students living at Dorms. The mothers received a special message, flowers and enjoyed performances afterwards. It is such a joy to celebrate the person who loved us at first sight!

Following the celebration of Mother’s Day, we went straight to celebrate our beloved teachers. Teacher’s day is oficially celebrated on May 15th. Our sophmore year High School students prepared an event for the teachers to enjoy, there was live music, performances and certificates honoring the best quality of each teacher. During lunch time, our School bought lunch for all our full and part time teachers at a nearby restaurant where Mr.Lee and Mr.Jacob Park handed gifts for those teachers who have been with us for 5 and 10 years and those who stand out in each level. We are so grateful to have teachers who are passionate to share the vision we have and educate our students with the best tools they have.

On Friday 19th, Teacher Karla organized a prayer night from 10pm to 2am, there were different topics to pray about and activities in between such as memorizing the Lord’s prayer in English, writing down what you would like to do to improve your spiritual life, sharing your favorite Bible verse and more. Snacks were provided by our Church and students could have a time to focus on this very essential part of our life as believers. Hopefully students will get a hold of the importance of prayer and have the burning desire to include it into their daily lives.

Our high school students were busy during the last days of the month since we had finals and they also had to submit their final projects for each class. However, after long nights of hard study they could enjoy some relaxed time during the celebration of Student’s Day on May 25th. Teachers decorated and prepared a Hawaiian themed party where they were the waitress and waiter, ready to provide each student a cool flavored shaved ice and snacks so they could enjoy some free time with their friends at school.

Our little ones always have activities going on, this month, Ichthus Elementary School was busy with their spelling Bee contest and soccer games played against other schools in Comitan. The spelling Bee was conducted in each class, during the second round three students were chosen among others and they got to compete against each other on the finals on May 26th.

Classes are over for High School level, however, Elementary and Middle school will end theirs on mid of July. We are very much looking forward to start with the next month full of activities since we are having English Camp! We pray that everything goes smoothly and that our students may not only learn more English but also meet God deeply.
